Last week, Make It Better reported in "Healing, Hope and Forgiveness in Rwanda" that the Krone family would be traveling to Rwanda to help Bishop John Rucyahana and the Sonrise Orphans School build a playground and soccer field.
This week the Krone family will be leaving with two soccer goals, a bag of brand new school supplies and gently used soccer apparel--all from reader donations. Additionally, the Wilmette Bike Shop deeply discounted four boundary field flags, a dozen soccer balls, hand air pump, 40 pinnies and some cones. The bike shop also donated more than 50 extra soccer shorts boasting Wilmette Jr. High and Sears School names. The Wilmette Park District chipped in with 65 extra soccer jerseys and 100 soccer shorts from previous seasons.
So, please be sure to support our Local Treasure, the Wilmette Bicycle Shop, and thank the Park District for their support.
The Krone family is delighted by the response, and Make It Better appreciates your support. Stay tuned for updates and photos from the Krone's journey. In fact, we're hoping to receive photos of the recipients playing soccer in those Wilmette and Sears School uniforms.
We'd like to leave you with an excerpt from the e-mail sent to Sharon Krone by the headmaster, Marjorie Negesa, in response to the news of your generosity:
"Thank you Sharon for your e-mail and for the things that you are willing to bring to Sonrise. We were badly needing soccer jerseys and shorts. You are most welcome to Sonrise. From this e-mail all you would like to do at Sonrise is great. After classes and lunch breakes will be very fine with the school programme. Scott could also have to take part in the P.E (Physical Education) lessons for soccer. Taking photoes at Sonrise is also accepted. God bless and looking forward to having you at Sonrise."
