Take a Walk

Yes, it's cold.

But there's still a world—a very lively one—outside your well-insulated door. And getting outside for some cool breaths of fresh air can improve your mental health. Go for a walk, purposely noting the scents, sounds and sights, suggests Nancy Grace Marder, executive director of the Infinity Foundation, a not-for-profit personal development organization in Highland Park.

"When you become present in the here and now, you soak in what's really around you," Marder says. "When you really notice the outdoors, an excitement and positive energy will feed you."
