I'm writing about a small business in Glenview that I have found exceptionally useful. Over the past 10 – 15 years, my physical mobility has become increasingly limited, as a result of polio’s late consequences sometimes called “post-polio syndrome”. Four years ago I saw two old friends getting around well in battery-powered scooters, and one of them referred me to CNC Medical Equipment, at 1804 Glenview Road, in Glenview. With the help of CNC’s owner, Chris Camp, I was able to compare powered wheelchairs, and three-wheel and four-wheel scooters, each of which has its pros and cons. Powered wheelchairs and scooters are fairly heavy and bulky, so it’s necessary to consider what kind of vehicle (van or mini-van e.g.) will be required, and what kind of lift or ramp machinery may be needed. Chris helped guide us through to good decisions. CNC deals in other items of use by persons with disabilities -- lift beds, lift chairs etc. After years of service, my scooter and its hoist mechanism have required a bit of maintenance work, which CNC has handled swiftly and at a reasonable price. The CNC phone number is 847-724-8380. John C. Williams, Wilmette
