Slow Cooker Oatmeal

Whole oats—called groats—and steel-cut oats are delicious and whole grain, but they take a lo-o-ong time to cook.

Not going to happen, even on the weekend, because I’m starving when I get up! So start them the night before in a small (2 quarts) slow cooker and you’re ready to go.

Serves 2-3
Cooking time: 8-9 hours

  • 1 cup whole oats or steel cut oats
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup skim or low fat milk
  • pinch of salt

Put all ingredients in slow cooker on low. Add brown sugar, cold milk, chopped nuts and dried fruits to taste.
