Tips for Dressing Your Man this Summer

You’re looking cute and ready for summer, but how about your hubbie? You can’t be seen with a schlub, as much as he loves his old golf shirts and “dad” jeans.

For help, we turned to Mark Goldberg, a sales associate for Avant for Men in Highland Park, who gave us tips on how to spice up our men’s wardrobes this summer. Here’s what’s hot.

It’s hip to be square. Update his wardrobe simply this season with a checked shirt or two. (Stripes are so 2009!)

Real men wear pastels. Melons, acid greens and lavenders are the color palette for men as we transition into summer.

Blazing style. This season’s unstructured blazers are an easy way to dress up the basic shirt and jeans. Their lightweight, non-fit form makes them comfy to boot.

No socks. Socks are a no-no for a casual summer look as driving mocs are the shoe of choice. But for the office, socks should coordinate with pants and shoes so there’s a nice transition from cuff to toe.

All things linen. According to Goldberg, washed linen is “explosive” this season. Its soft and intentionally wrinkled look requires little to no maintenance.
